I've never purchased tahini (kind of expensive) but we found this recipe for hummus that doesn't call for it.
1 can chick peas (rinsed and drained)
1/2 cup plain yogurt
2 Tbsp lemon juice
3 cloves garlic
2 tsp olive oil
1 Tbsp water
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp cumin
1/8 tsp pepper
Blend in blender.
